CTC to monthly take-home salary in India

If you know your annual CTC or salary package in LPA, this calculator estimates how much may reach your bank account each month. For example, you can enter ₹8 lakh, ₹10 lakh, ₹12 lakh, ₹15 lakh, ₹20 lakh or another annual CTC and compare the estimated monthly and annual in-hand salary under the calculator’s assumptions.

There is no single universal in-hand salary for a given CTC. Two employees with the same ₹12 LPA or ₹15 LPA package can receive different monthly take-home pay because Basic salary, provident fund, gratuity, variable pay, professional tax, tax regime, eligible deductions and the employer’s salary structure can differ.

Common CTC and LPA take-home questions

The calculator can be used for questions such as “What is the in-hand salary for 10 LPA?”, “How much is 12 LPA per month after tax and PF?”, “What is the monthly take-home for 15 LPA?”, or “How much of a 20 LPA CTC reaches my bank account?” Enter the actual CTC and adjust the salary assumptions rather than treating a generic LPA figure as a guaranteed paycheck.

Why CTC is different from in-hand salary

CTC is the employer's total annual cost for your compensation. It can include amounts that do not reach your bank account every month, such as employer provident-fund contributions, gratuity provisions, insurance or other benefits, and variable pay.

How this estimate works

The calculator first estimates fixed gross salary after employer-side PF and gratuity assumptions. It then adds annual variable pay to estimate total cash compensation and subtracts employee PF, professional tax, other payroll deductions and estimated income tax.

Why the PF result can differ from your payslip

Provident-fund treatment varies by eligibility and employer payroll practice. This calculator lets you model PF on full Basic salary, the ₹15,000 monthly contribution wage ceiling, or no PF. Use the option that best matches your offer letter or payslip.

Why gratuity is only an estimate here

The gratuity amount shown here represents an estimated employer-side CTC provision based on the salary structure entered. It is not a calculation of your final statutory gratuity entitlement, which depends on applicable law, wages and service.

Income-tax assumptions

The built-in tax estimate is intended for a resident salaried individual under age 60 with ordinary salary income. The New regime is used by default. If you select the Old regime, the calculator can also model the simplified exemptions and deductions shown under “Add Old-regime deductions & exemptions”. It does not model special-rate income, capital gains, multiple employers, employer NPS, every deduction or exemption, taxable perquisites, house-property complexities, or individual filing circumstances.

CTC to in-hand salary FAQ

How do I calculate monthly in-hand salary from CTC?

Start with annual CTC, separate employer-side components such as modeled employer PF and gratuity from cash salary, then account for employee PF, professional tax, other payroll deductions and estimated income-tax withholding. This calculator performs that estimate and shows both monthly and annual in-hand amounts.

What is the monthly in-hand salary for 12 LPA in India?

There is no single correct monthly amount for every ₹12 LPA package. The result depends on the salary breakup, PF treatment, gratuity, variable pay, professional tax, tax regime and eligible deductions. Enter ₹12,00,000 as Annual CTC to estimate it using assumptions that match your offer letter or payslip.

Is CTC the same as take-home salary?

No. CTC represents the employer’s overall compensation cost and can include employer-side contributions, benefits, gratuity provisions and variable compensation. Take-home salary is the estimated cash remaining after applicable payroll deductions and estimated income tax.

Can I compare New and Old tax regimes?

Yes. New regime is the calculator default. You can select Old regime and enter the eligible deductions and exemptions supported by this simplified salary model. The calculator is an educational estimate rather than an individual tax-return calculation.

Why can my actual payslip differ from this estimate?

Actual payroll can differ because of employer salary structure, PF treatment, bonus timing, benefits, taxable perquisites, professional tax, TDS adjustments, exemptions, deductions and other individual circumstances.
