LPA means lakhs per annum. One lakh is ₹1,00,000, so 1 LPA equals ₹1,00,000 per year. For example, 12 LPA equals ₹12,00,000 annual gross salary and ₹1,00,000 gross per month when divided evenly across 12 months.
Why gross monthly salary may differ from in-hand salary
