How Much Should I Invest Each Month to Reach My Goal?

Set your own target instead of starting with a fixed $1 million goal. The calculator estimates the monthly contribution that could reach it under your assumptions.

How to use an investment goal

Start with the amount you already have, choose a target and time horizon, then enter an assumed annual return. Try several assumptions rather than treating one result as a promise.

Why this differs from the $1 million calculator

The math is the same goal-seeking model, but this page is designed around any target: 100,000, 250,000, 500,000, 1 million or another amount meaningful to you. Our existing $1 million guide remains a focused example.

What the calculator assumes

Returns are modeled at a constant annual rate compounded monthly, with contributions at the end of each month. Taxes, fees and real-world market volatility are not modeled.
